Faustino "Tino" Acosta, Sr, 88, of Pecos, Texas (his home for 55 years) passed away on May 17, 2021 in El Paso, Texas.
Tino was born in Imperial, Texas to Cruz and Pilar Acosta on December 22, 1932. He grew up in the Grandfalls, Texas area and helped his father at the family farm. He married Guadalupe "Lupe" Sanchez on October 16, 1955 in Pecos, Texas. Tino retired as a General Foreman from Penzoil or the Sulphur Mine and he and Lupe traveled to various parts of the Country after his retirement. He was a veteran of the Navy and was awarded Good Conduct, United Nations, and Korean Service Medals. He was involved in many activities at Santa Rosa Catholic Church including being an Usher and Cursillista among many things. He was a former member of the Cinco De Mayo and Dies y Seis De Septiembre Committees. He was also a Catholic War Veteran and served as the Commander of the Post.
Tino is preceded in death by his wife Lupe, his parents Cruz and Pilar Acosta, his brother Joe Acosta, grandson Daniel Taylor and son-in-law Byron Calderon.
Tino is survived by his children Elsa Acosta Calderon, Celina Acosta (Bill Ware) Celia Acosta Evans (Paul), Terrie Acosta DeHaan (Curtis), and Tino Acosta (Eliza). Grandchildren David Evans Carlos Calderon, Matthew Evans, Elijah DeHaan, John Taylor, Lucas Taylor, Elsita Calderon, and Lauren Acosta great granddaughters Kylee, Esther, Camila, and Isabella.
Pallbearers will be David and Matthew Evans, Elsita Calderon, Lauren Acosta, Elijah DeHaan, and Elva Acosta
Visitation will begin at 10:00 on May 20 with Rosary at 7:00pm at Pecos Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on May 21, 2021 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Mike Alcuino officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery in Alpine, Texas at 3:00 pm. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home. Mask and Social Distancing at all times.
