Thomas Cleybourne was the executor of his father’s will. He was admitted free of the Borough of Kings Lynn in 1578/79, his franchise being secured by birth. He was an Alderman in 1591 and Mayor in 1592. After his marriage in 1598, he moved to the Parish of Stepney, Middlesex and then to Parish of Crayford, Kent where he died in 1607.

Thomas Clayborne of Kent (1560-1607), merchant gentleman, was the father of William Claiborne (1600-1677), who changed the spelling of his name from Clayborne to Claiborne after leaving England and settling in the Virginia Colonies in America.
