ODESSA — David B. Franco was born April 4, 1948, in Ft. Stockton, TX. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at the Home Hospice House in Odessa. David will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but one can find comfort knowing that he had Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior and is now enjoying a wonderful eternal life in Heaven. David is survived by his four children: Celina Davis of Lubbock, TX, Seydia Adkins and Hope Franco of Terrell, TX, and David Rey Franco of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by his parents, Florentino (Tino) and Esperanza Franco of Odessa, TX, and his siblings: Noe Franco, Toby Franco and his wife Frances, Rafael Franco and his wife Rosie of Odessa, TX, and Ines Franco of Ayer, MA. Other survivors include his five grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. His grandson, Andrew Davis, and nephew, Zachary Franco, preceded him in death. |
David served his country with distinction in the U.S. Air Force and was awarded the following: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with Two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas (Short) Tour Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. After 17 years of service, David was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1986 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
David will be remembered as a big man who had an even bigger heart. He was a very happy person who truly loved life no matter what obstacles were before him. He was always helping others and enjoyed being around all his family and friends and they could count on him when needed. He loved to travel and was musically gifted. Blessed by these gifts from God, he is now using them to praise the King of Kings. David was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mass in his honor will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at 12 noon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Odessa, TX with Father Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
