?. José "Pepe" born 1925
G741-Z87 [should this be the Jose which the 1920 US Census says was born in 1910?]

Their Story:
Blandina de la Garza was born in 1891 in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.  In 1909 when she was 18 years old she immigrated to the US.  Her oldest daughter, Anastacia was born in the year before.  We don't know if Anastacia immigrated with her mother at the same time, but the rest of her children were born after she was already living in the US.

On February 19, 1920, Blandina was living in rural Presidio County (not yet in Marfa) with her first five children.  The 1920 US Census says that she was a widow and that José, Antonio, and Amparo were born in Mexico though it seems more likely they were born in the US.  Research needs to be done to verify their birth locations. Blandina was supporting the family by taking in laundry.  José was now 10 years old and was already helping support the family by doing day labor work and did not attend school with his siblings Anastacia, Antonio, and Amparo
.  Carlos was only 5 years old so he  was not yet in school.

By 1930 Blandina was living in Marfa, Texas with her two youngest sons, Carlos who was fifteen years old and Alonzo eight, in a house she rented for $2.00 a month.  She made a living by taking in laundry like her next door neighbor Refugia Morales.  Refugia had immigrated in 1919, nine years after Blandina's immigration.
