Both Cipriano and his wife Juanita were born in Mexico. According to the 1910 US Census he immigrated into the United States in 1876
In 1890 when he was 50 or 51 years old and she was 23 years old they immigrated into the US. By June of 1890 they were living in Brewster County next door to the Silvas family.
Ten years later in 1900 they became naturalized US citizens. At that time they were living next door to
Some sources say Cipriano Hernandez was the founder of Castolón. From Bob Wirt's Discussion comments we learn that both Cipriano and his brother-in-law Leandro Silvas arrived together at this location which was first called Santa Elena.
