José de Luna (LDRZ-D3R) was born in 1851 in Pinos, Zacatecas, Mexico. In 1873, he married Juana Rodriguez (1851-). They had ten children:
Francisco (1875-1988),

Jose was a miner in Noria de Angeles, and in 1888 his oldest son, Francisco fell into a mine and died at the age of 13. He would take his father lunch daily and was found with the basket of food still in his arms. After his son's death Jose and his family migrated to Piedras Negras and eventually to Terlingua, Texas. His two youngest children Simona and Lazaro were born there.
The family appears in the 1900 Brewster County census stating that the family migrated in 1891, having been in the U.S. for nine years. Tax assessment records show him from 1901 to 1910. He had horses, mules, jacks, jennets, and goats. The 1910 records show him as owning 640 acres, abstract # 5375, cert. or scrip. # 4671, survey # 8.
Two of his daughters, and one son married in Brewster County. Emilia married Jesus Maria Alcala (1873-1955) in 1918. They had three children, all born there; Francisca, (1911-1935), Guadalupe (1912-1939) and Juan (1917-1930). Simona married Esteban Rosado (1887-1974) in 1920. Son Sixto, married Agripina Morales (1882-1971) in 1916. They had two sons, Jose (1917-1997) born in Boquillas, MX. Lazaro (1919-2009) in Del Rio, TX and youngest daughter Maria (1921-1998) in Alpine, TX. Sixto and Agripina also raised Anselma Guerra (1907-1977) from Agripina's previous marriage. As well as 3 of Sixto's nephews by the names of Jose Rosado (1926-2010), Estevan Rosado Jr. (1928-2016), and Jesus Arturo Chipres (1926-2012).
The de Luna family, who eventually went by just Luna, then migrated to Uvalde, TX and neighboring Del Rio. Eventually branching out to Fort Worth and San Angelo. The Luna family was fortunate enough to hear of the many interesting stories and memories told to them by my great-grandfather Sixto Luna, and my grandfather, Lazaro Luna, who both lived to the age of 90 in Del Rio, TX.

Sixto Rodriguez Luna was raised and lived in Terlingua from the time that he was about two years old to when he was about 27. According to the 1900 Census for Brewster County they immigrated in 1891. His continual stories of his life there was something the family had always heard and cherished.
Research Notes:
Mr. Franco, I saw that you have added my de Luna family to your website. Thank you so much. I also noticed that the information you listed for my great grandfather Sixto was from his immigration application. I do not know why it states that he had been in the United States only since 1919. But as I'm sure you know, there are many misspellings and misinformation in old documents and records. Mostly due to illiteracy at that time. Sixto was raised and lived in Terlingua from the time that he was about two years old to when he was about 27. His continual stories of his life there was something the family had always heard and cherished.
I would like to ask if you could please change the information on Sixto that is on the website and instead add what I have included below. I would greatly appreciate it in hopes that the descendants of other Luna families from that time might be able to make the connection to ours, since my great grandfather spoke of uncles and cousins living there as well.
