Family Oral Tradition:
"Lucía Gómez was part Indian and part French. She was born in Parral (about 140 miles south of Chihuahua City). After she married Refugio Olivas, the story goes that Refugio was working at La Hacienda. There was trouble, and he killed the boss’ son, so he fled to el Mulato. One of his compadres later brought his family – Guadalupe, Isidro, Refugio, Pancha (they were fair and had blue eyes) and Herlinda – to el Mulato. Refugio used to make large wooden bowls that were used in kitchens."
