THE FAMILY STORY:
"My mother, Aurora Valles, was born April 23, 1911 in Terlingua. She always said it was called Chisos. Her grandfather, Valent
ín Valles, and father, Santos Valles, worked at the Smith Silver Mine. Her mother was Amalia Valles (Navarrete).

"Valentín
Valles (95 yrs. old) lived with Rafael Navarrete and Bruna Navarrete (Iabba), plus Juan-29, Corifriver-20, & Lioforda-11. And living next to them was Rafael & Bruna's son Miguel-31 & his wife Binnona-22 and their 2 children, from information on the 1910 Census.

"My mother said that the doctor told her father that he must leave Texas and go to California for her mother's health. They left Chisos, and mother was baptized 9/17/1911 at St. Joseph, Fort Davis, Texas. My aunt Angie was born in Fort Angela, Texas 9/15/17. In October of 1920 my aunt Eva was born in Oklahoma. My mother told me that they arrived in Jackson, California when she was 13 years old. She also said that her father was born in Texas and the rest of the family came from the State of Chihuahua."
