The boy sitting in the chair was the first Román Franco his parents, Antonio and Valentina, had.  This first Román died of a ruptured appendix on Dec 3, 1919.  Six months later his brother was born.  Perhaps they missed the first Román so much they also named the new one Román.  His older brother, Manuel Franco, told me that at one time it was the fashion to have those large collars like Román is wearing. He said they called them "vueltas."
