Senon Chavarria and Santos Silvas actually had four children. Son Roberto was born April 1931 in the Terlingua area, died 4 September 1932 of pneumonia and is buried in the La Coyota Cemetery. I'll send the death record.

Bob Wirt has published the Chavarria family report. It covers Pio Chavrria's descendants from Pio's sons, Romaldo and Severiano.
We will be adding info from his report to Familias de Terlingua. You can see the report at Life Before the Ruins http://www.lifebeforetheruins.com/romaldo--severiano-chavarria.html

How exciting! My youngest son Henry found this website and shared it with me. Nestor Carrasco and Petra Chavarria were my paternal grandparents and I have the picture on this site. My aunt Julia shared some others as well. Thanks for all the research done. I know that my mom and dad Jose Chavarria and Juanita Lujan also lived in Terlingua, Marathon then in Ft. Stockton.

Arcilia, glad your son found this site. Send information on your parents,
siblings, etc. We do not have all the information on the Chavarrias.
Bob Wirt gathered as much as he could. I got some from Julia, but
she was gone before I could ask more. Life Before the Ruins has more
on the Chavarrias.

Arcilia, my cousin Louisa Franco Madrid and I run Familias de Terlingua. You are our second cousin. Louisa's and my grandmother was Valentina Chavarría younger sister of Petra your grandmother.

Severiano and Rita Chavarría lived in Fort Stockton where their first four children were born. They left Fort Stockton sometime between May 30, 1884 and April 1885 for the exciting new opportunities from the farming and other economic developments around Castolón. They probably started the settlement that came to be known as La Coyota about two miles up the Rio Grande (west of) from Castolón. We know the time of their move from Fort Stockton because Fernanda, their fourth child was born in Ft. Stockton May 30, 1884 and your grandmother, Petra was the first of 12 children born to them in La Coyota. Their second child born in La Coyota was Valentina born two years after your grandmother. Valentina is Louisa's and my grandmother. Your grandmother Petra was an aunt to our fathers. Valentina married Antonio Franco and their first two sons were our dads.

I am happy to find more cousins! Bob Wirt did a lot of wonderful research in records and archives. He worked with family members to get verifications, clues, and additional information not to mention photographs. Louisa does a lot of research herself and is especial adept at working with relatives. She has an extensive collection of information and knows how to reach many people who can provide more information.

We were so glad when Bob Wirt completed the first version of his Documented Research Report on the Chavarría family. We are very grateful to him. With Bob's death in January of this year we were saddened at the loss of a dear friend. In addition it has reduced our access to research on the families of Terlingua.

As Louisa mentioned in her comment above, we would appreciate it if you can contribute or encourage others to contribute any information on the Chavarría family. It would be great if you could send us family photographs and help us complete the family.

I am working on adding family pages to Familias de Terlingua on all of the children of Severiano and Rita [http://www.familiasdeterlingua.com/chavarria---severiano-y-rita-ramirez.html] using Bob Wirt's report which is on his website Life Before the Ruins [http://www.lifebeforetheruins.com/romaldo--severiano-chavarria.html].

I am so glad you found us and am looking forward to adding any information you may have especially on your own family -- our cousins.

If you want to see more on La Coyota where our grandmothers were born and grew up go to http://www.familiasdeterlingua.com/la-coyota-tx.html

Thank you so much for posting.
Antonio

I remember travelling with my dad to Terlingua to find his childhood home. He stood amongst some ruins that were built into the side of a hill which helped provide a wall to their home.
I will share this website with my father and recieve his input and history to post.

Information on my great grand mother Rita Ramirez Chavarria.
After the flood in La Coyota, she went to live with her daughter
Valentina Franco . She lived at a little house close to the Franco
house. Later she moved in with the Franco family ,sometimes
living with some of her other children. When she moved to Ft. Stockton she lived with Senon and also Petra and later with Rosendo.

Hello... I was reading over this information and noticed my mother was left off by mistake. I am Janette Galindo Ruiz daughter of 'Susie Galindo' (Maria Asucena Ortega) daughter of Alejandra Chavarria who married Jose Ortega. I noticed that I was stated that they had 3 children but in fact it was a total of 5, their first born was born deceased and then they had second child Jose, Maria Asucena(Susie), Alicia, and last Amelia. Just hoping you could at least update info with my mother added. Sadly my mother Susie passed away here in Ft Stockton on 07/05/18, but would love her memory to still be remembered..thank you!

My father Angel Chavarria was born in Meoqui, Chihuahua on October 1, 1921. I don't know how he is related to Severiano or Romaldo Chavarria, who were also born in Meoqui. With Meoqui being such a small community during that time, I'm sure they are related. I'm thinking that my father's grandfather would have been a cousin of Severiano and Romaldo. My grandfather's name was Genaro Chavarria (my dad's father) but he wasn't Severiano's son Genaro as prior research shows that Severiano's son, Genaro, died as a child. I was wondering if anyone has any information. I don't have my much information about Genaro Chavarria's (my grandfather) family. I also don't think he would be related to Romaldo Chavarria unless Guadalupe Chavarria (Romaldo's son) had a son named Genaro.
