Molinar Family Discussion

1/24/2012

The Molinar family has long been overdue for its own discussion page.  It is a very large family that has data going to the earliest found in Familias de Terlingua.  Today we start a discussion page for the family.

We start by posting copies of comments concerning the Molinar family found in other discussion pages to show a history of what has been discussed on the Molinar family.

But we also have a new discussion starting today on a "mystery" grave. See it below.  Please add your new comments on the mystery grave or any other comments on the Molinares here.
Picture
Help us identify who is buried here. The inscription etched on it says, "hecha por Andres Molinar el dia 9 de Abril de 1935" which means "made by Andres Molinar on April 9, 1935."

Molinar Family addition/correction. The paragraph on Alberto Molinar should read as follows:

B. Son Alberto Molinar was born in Mexico 8 Jun 1877. He died in Midland Memorial Hospital 30 Jul 1956 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Midland. He married Luisa Jacquez circa 1912. She was born in Presidio, Texas 25 Aug 1891, the daughter of Romaldo and Severa O. Jacquez. She died at her home in Midland on 5 Apr 1966 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery. They had 12 children.

On the Paz Molinar family: daughter Maria married Cornelio Bentacourt instead of Jose Canova. They had no children.
Alfonso Molinar & Maria had two children instead of three. He later married Teresa Villanueva from Ft. Davis and they had five children. Ernestina married Roman Arispe. After his death she married an Hernandez.

Tony, I think I have tracked the connection between Andrew Guzman and Antonio Molinar Below:

Andrew Guzman was the son of Angelica and Jose Guzmán.
Angelica was the daughter of David Madrid who was the son of Joe Madrid and Maria Louisa Franco.
Maria Louisa Franco was daughter of Benigno (Ben) Franco son of
Antonio Franco who was son of Francisco Franco married to Juanita Molinar
Daughter of Vicente Molinar and Petra Carrasco.
Vicente Molinar was the son of Antonio Molinar.

Congratulations, Felix!
You have correctly connected 8 generations [actually it was 10 generations] using the Familias pages!

From the Terlingua navigation tab on the left select the "Libros de Terlingua" tab that slides out to go select a book. Then come back here and post your choice. We will order it and have it delivered to you.

Something to think about:
Antonio Molinar had a child in 1810 according to Bob Wirt's research, so it is reasonable to assume that Antonio Molinar was born about 20 to 30 years earlier -- 1780 to 1790. The United States Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation on March 4, 1789. So that is really when the United States of America, as such, started.

So you have connected Andrew Guzman all the way back to around the time of the beginning of the United States of America! OK, so that is stretching it a bit for dramatic effect since the Confederation became the United States; but, still, it sounds nice to say.

Bryn Moore has found a "mystery grave" in a family cemetery near the Alberto Molinar place. We ask the help of our readers in identifying who is buried there. Does anyone recognize it?

The inscription etched on the grave is in Spanish and reads, "hecha por Andres Molinar el dia 9 de Abril de 1935." This translates to "made by Andres Molinar on April 9, 1935." To be clear, note that we added the translation onto the photo above in the box that says "Etching Says," but that is not part of the grave.

Rebecca Chacón looking at the photo of Domingo Franco and Anita Molinar in the Facebook Familias de Terlingua page wondered if she is related and wrote the following:
"my grandmother is Rosa Molinar Chacon hmm?? makes me wonder if any relation in somewhere u kno we have family un Terlingua im only 33, i was just to young or prolly not born yet to know any."

If you have any information to help her please post it here.

You are related. You can look on my Web site, Life Before the Ruins, at the two reports. First go to the Preciliano Chacon report where you will find your family at
http://www.lifebeforetheruins.com/preciliano-chacon.html
Then go to the Molinar report for additional information on Rosa Molinar daughter of Eduardo and Conrada Molinar at
http://www.lifebeforetheruins.com/antonio-molinar-2.html

We would like permission to use your Facebook photos in Familias de Terlingua and in Life Before the Ruins.

Hope this helps.

My documented research has Antonio Molinar as my 4th Great Grandfather. The line is a s follows: Antonio Molinar, father of Vicente Molinar, married to Josefa Munoz: Vicente Molinar married to Petra Baeza Carrasco, parents of Carmen Molinar married to Justo Gonzalez, parents of Luciana Gonzalez. Luciana Gonzalez married to Juan Matta. All of my research comes from Catholic church records as well as birth and census records. I would be interested in discussing more of this line of the family with anyone. Thanks

I am a direct descendant of Antonio Molinar and I am the grandson of Atilano Molinar II. My mother is Aladicia (Maria) Ludica Molinar Frescas and was born and raised in Shafter, Texas until Grandpa moved them to Loving, NM to work the Pot Ash mines. My mother is 88 and my aunt is also still alive, Margarita Molinar Frescas. We are in California.

I am publishing my email as there are a few of the commenters that have posted that are related. It is very exciting.

Thank you.

I was adopted from birth and found that I have cousins with the surname Molinar. They are descendants from Concepcion Molinar and Lazaro Molinar.
Their parents in turn were Matias and Isabel.

Looking for relatives of their son Ramon Molinar, more specifically one of his sons. If anyone has any information, I would be happy to hear from you.

Cosme de Molinar is my 1st cousin 10x removed. There is a lot of info on this family line but I'm trying to find info on my branch. Cosme's father is Domingo de Molinar. Domingo's brother is Pedro (Andrés) Molinar which is my 9th great-grandfather. I'm trying to find info on Santos Molinar, my great great grandfather (1855-1934) and his store he had in Hidalgo del Parral. He was a merchant.
Thanks to anyone who puts some light on this.

I wish I had found this sooner- hope ya'll are still searching and around! I am the daughter of Roman De La O, several of them! First one was killed in robbery in 1917 per the wonderful Mr. Wirt whom I wish I had spoken more with him- I am have several questions if anyone can help - 1. I cannot find death cert, newspaper noting his murder at Smugglers Canyon
2. Where is the Molinar cemetery? I would love coordinates. They say Roman's wife, Tomasa, left for Alpine after Roman was killed in fear, however, not sure how but she returned at some time because they say she was buried at Molinar cemetery.
3. Alberto Molinar had one of the first schools there for family/friends, why is there no pictures of him! Why did he move from Terlingua to Midland?

sorry for the many questions, I am so enthralled with the hunt and history. We are such a proud familia and I appreciate everyone of you. Feel free to contact me at my email: [email protected]
