Luis Peña was born in Mexico in 1868.  The next year, 1869, the infant immigrated with his family.  He was married twice.  His first wife was María Chavez.  Luis and María lived in Grandfalls before he bought a ranch outside of Barstow in the 1890s. Luis lived the rest of his life there. Luis and María had six children together.  After María died he married a second time hand had eight children.
