The Story:
Celestina Amatulli, daughter of Felix and Josefa Valenzuela, remembers that the William Mack Waters family were their neighbors.  She remembers that one day Jimmy got a pair of scissors and cut off his eyelashes as a joke.  She says it backfired on him because he had difficulty seeing for a while.  Sadly, Jimmy died when he was about twelve years old.  The family went on a picnic by the Rio Grande, and he fell in the river and drowned.

William Mack Waters notes by Bob Wirt: There are conflicts. 1920 census shows birth place as Texas, 1930 as Tennessee, and his death record and that of son Jimmie as Illinois. In 1920 he is shown as "furnace man", 1930 as "mechanic, mine" and in death record as "electrician". He married Noberta "Beta" White circa 1910 and they had nine children: Son George born circa 1911 Son Clare born circa 1912 Daughter Hazel born circa 1917, died 1947. She married Jose Molinar, son of Alberto Molinar and Luisa Jaquez. Daughter Alice born circa 1919 Son Mack born circa 1920 Son Frank born circa 1923 Daughter Beta born circa 1925 Son Jimmie E. born 1927, died 1941, drowned while swimming in Rio Grande near Santa Elena Canyon, buried in Alpine. Daughter Lootie Belle born 29 Sep 1941, probably in Terlingua.
